Named after famed South Australian landscape artist, Sir Hans Heysen, the Heysen Trail incorporates a large number of spectacular and beautiful areas of the state. The Heysen Trail is a well maintained and documented series of walking tracks catering to both the local and the visiting bushwalker. Comprising both novice paths and areas for the more adventurous it stretches from the rugged Flinders Ranges to the Adelaide Hills and the southern Fluerieu Peninsula. If coming to South Australia to walk the trail, be sure to visit the Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide and the Heysen Gallery in Hahndorf to see examples of Heysen's work. Many of the views you'll experience on the trail were the subject of his paintings.
