Named after famed South Australian landscape artist, Sir Hans Heysen, the Heysen Trail incorporates a large number of spectacular and beautiful areas of the state. The Heysen Trail is a well maintained and documented series of walking tracks catering to both the local and the visiting bushwalker. Comprising both novice paths and areas for the more adventurous it stretches from the rugged Flinders Ranges to the Adelaide Hills and the southern Fluerieu Peninsula.

If coming to South Australia to walk the trail, be sure to visit the Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide and the Heysen Gallery in Hahndorf to see examples of Heysen's work. Many of the views you'll experience on the trail were the subject of his paintings.

HEYSEN TRAIL LOGBOOKS

For both the Southern and Northern Heysen Trail map books there is a corresponding log book. These allow you to log your progress along the trail. Each page represents a days walk and the log books reflect the layout of the above map books. The logs have simplified maps to allow you to mark your own points of interest. Space is also available for notes.

The logbooks can be your "proof of passage" when applying for your Trail Completion Certificate and Badge.
